Entry-Level Energy Efficiency Engineer - Chicagoland, IL

This position has a home-based office in the Greater Chicagoland area. Up to 25% of local travel is required. A local candidate is preferred.

Your Background

  • Bachelor’s in mechanical or energy engineering
  • Up to two years of experience working in any aspect of energy efficiency or similar trade (e.g., electrical, HVAC, etc.)
  • Knowledge of:
    • Conducting energy assessments
    • Building energy models (e.g., Trane Trace, eQuest, Energy Plus, etc.)
    • Performing energy and economic analyses
    • Designing and/or commissioning building systems
    • Working on-site with commercial and industrial customers
    • Writing reports and delivering presentations to stakeholders
    • Utilizing tools such as Microsoft Office

Preferred Additional Experience

  • Advanced degree, Certified Energy Manager, Certified Energy Auditor, Engineer in Training (EIT)

Day-to-Day

You will join a team dedicated to helping commercial and industrial customers manage their energy use by providing technical expertise through energy efficiency programs, training initiatives, and direct-to-customer services. Some of the day-to-day activities you would be involved with might include but are not limited to:

  • Providing technical assistance on energy-efficient technologies and practices to participants in utility-sponsored programs
  • Conducting on-site assessments of commercial and industrial facilities to identify energy efficiency opportunities.
  • Conducting on-site inspections to verify the installation and operation of energy efficiency projects.
  • Performing energy and economic analyses
  • Reviewing energy assessments, opportunities, and calculations
  • Preparing reports and delivering presentations
  • Supporting the development of marketing and outreach strategies to increase awareness of and inspire action for energy efficiency
